An enlightening, off-the-record discussion about “The Opportunities and Challenges for U.S. Foreign Policy in the Middle East.” Hosted by the S. Daniel Abraham Center for Middle East Peace along with Ambassador of the European Union to the United States Joao Vale De Almeida, this luncheon gave participants a unique insight into the active and essential role the United States, along with itsTransatlantic allies, continues to play in the Middle East during this particularly turbulent moment in history.

Participants included foreign Ambassadors to the United States, former and current elected officials, including members of both the House and Senate, as well as influential thought leaders. The Chief of Staff delivered the keynote address and answered several questions related to the United States’ unambiguous policy to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, America’s steadfast commitment to its critical ally Israel, the unique challenges presented by the crisis in Syria, and the uncertainty surrounding the democratic shift in Egypt.
